Content Designer 2

Microsoft Remote Atlanta, GA

About You

You’re a writer.

You’re a natural storyteller, and you have writing and editing superpowers. You also believe in the power of plain language to communicate ideas and you thrive on problem solving that makes people’s lives better.

About this content design opportunity

We’re looking for a highly creative and tech-savvy writer to help customers connect to the new Microsoft Viva experience, an employee experience platform that brings together communications, knowledge, learning, resources, and insights. Our team creates great content design through UX writing and content to ensure a smooth, beneficial customer journey. As a part of it all, you’ll collaborate with our world-class designers, content creators, researchers, and engineering teams. You’ll create timely content experiences to help people learn, collaborate with others, and discover new opportunities for managing life and work through remote and hybrid work environments.

Responsibilities include:

  • A passion for tech that can provide seamless experiences to improve work and life balance
  • Crafting language across various Viva products using a human-centered approach combined with a strong understanding of UX writing and content heuristics
  • Working closely with internal teams to build consistent, yet contextual content experiences that feel cohesive across Microsoft Viva and connections with other Microsoft 365 apps and services
  • Implementing qualitative and quantitative analysis, with a drive to learn more about our customers’ needs through experimentation and customer research
  • Making strategic decisions and prioritizing work based on the positive impact it will provide customers and businesses
  • Maintaining the integrity of the Microsoft brand by applying our voice principles through consistent tone, clarity, concision and always making sure people know we are there for them
  • Performing functional and editorial quality assurance on content as appropriate
  • Participating in collaboration sessions with writers, designers, and product managers
  • Grabbing coffee with a colleague—either in person or on a Teams call—to hear what they’re excited about and how you can help

You’ll be happiest here if you:

  • See words as an incredibly powerful design material for connecting with people
  • Have a learning mindset no matter what you’re working on
  • Are passionate about enabling people towards a healthy work-life balance
  • Are articulate and prepared, take initiative and are not afraid to fail
  • Have a positive yet practical attitude…with a strong capacity for fun
  • Work quickly without compromising quality
  • Design for impact

This role might not be a good fit if you:

  • Work better in structured, top-down environments than in the often-ambiguous and uncertain world of creative independence
  • See failure as humiliation rather than necessary to healthy growth and development
  • Value striving for perfection over an agile work ethic

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience delivering creative projects under tight deadlines and on time
  • 3+ years’ experience writing for UX, instructional or storytelling purposes—we’re interested in all your writing, including playwriting, screenwriting, journalism, creative writing, and more
  • Natural and inquisitive passion for modern technology
  • Portfolio of writing and design samples for review
  • Foundational study in the Arts & Humanities, such as Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Communications, Philosophy, Psychology, Linguistics, even Theatre, Dance and Film

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in customer research
  • Flexible, versatile writing across form factors, subject matter, and audiences
  • Creative collaboration and problem-solving skills
