The Developer Division Design Studio is looking for a Motion Director to join our team and help craft an inclusive center of design excellence for developer experiences.

In this role you will drive creative and technical ideation and output across our suite of products as well as brand, marketing, and other storytelling initiatives, both company- and customer-facing.

The ideal candidate is a multi-disciplinary expert continually focused on using motion and audio to craft stories and artifacts showing how accessible, inclusive developer tools help evolve and transform our world for the better. You use motion graphics, moving and still images, sound, haptics and other emerging forms of UX expression to imagine and execute data driven experiences across established and emerging platforms. You are strategic and capable of systemic thinking while also being able to “use your hands” and show vs. tell people what you believe. You are as comfortable working on your own from start to finish as you are leading a team of technical and creative staff through the rigors of multi-tiered feedback and approval. And your passion for your work matches your passion for your customers.

You will be joining a rapidly growing studio of talented and enthusiastic designers working on software development tools and technologies who focus on defining, designing, and delivering an exceptional, customer-centered experience for developers and their teams. We’ll look to you to define and deliver everything from brand-appropriate motion and sound in product design systems, to inspirational and emotive video storytelling showcasing what we do, how we do it, and the real impact our work has for customers.

  • Develop, document, and evangelize motion design and video production strategy and value across our products, studio, org, and company. Why motion? Why video? What, where, when, and how motion, audio or video?
  • Lead teams, partners, stakeholders and projects from mood boards and concepting, through presentation and feedback, to final delivery.
  • Establish and document motion principles, systems and best practices capable of cross platform implementation at scale.
  • Establish and document video storytelling principles, systems and best practices to consistently capture quality picture, sound, and story in person or remote.
  • Work closely with engineering to understand and influence the platform(s) for successful motion integration in product and marketing properties.
  • Work closely with research to develop a continually evolving understanding of our customer’s motivations, problems, requirements, and biases around motion and video.
  • Effectively communicate with leadership, team members, partners, stakeholders, and customers to make better products and content, for the right reasons.
  • Lead creative and/or technical vendors and staff as needed.
  • Build prototypes, motion studies, videos, sound elements and other marketing collateral as defined by the Creative Director and responsibilities above.
  • Be eager to learn and excited to share.

  • 7+ yrs in motion, animation, and/or video production in a deadline-driven environment.
  • 5+ yrs in product design, interaction and/or UX focused motion design.
  • 3+ yrs leading interdisciplinary teams.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, Figma, Sketch, Principle, Cinema 4D, Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, ProtoPie, and/or other industry apps.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in studio, in-house and run-and-gun video production, audio production, systems design and facilities operation and management.
  • Online portfolio.
