As a seasoned quantitative or mixed-methods Researcher within the Microsoft Digital Studio team, you contribute to product making at all phases for our HR employee experiences. User experience is at the forefront of how we create products that our users love. You will work with other Researchers and stakeholders from the broader orgs to develop innovative experiences to bring essential employee tasks together to help them enjoy their lives at work. You will identify unmet needs, pain points, and new opportunities and have a big seat at the table to guide the product team to the right direction through translating insights into product decisions.

  • Partner closely with key stakeholders across design, engineering, data science, business partners, and leadership to establish trust, and deliver actionable insights and recommendations in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Bring a product making/design thinking mindset as part of your research approach.
  • Develop creative methods to understand the complexity of our end users' experience and become a subject matter expert in employee experience.
  • Lead the product team to define UX goals and integrate inclusive UX practices.
  • Develop and manage various listening channels (e.g. in-product feedback) to understand user sentiment, satisfaction, and perception in a longitudinal way to inform product strategy.
  • Collect and analyze user behavior and perceptions through in-depth interviews, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmarking studies, and other data points.
  • Prioritize effectively by identifying the most burning problems to solve.
  • Advocate research findings to diverse audiences in memorable ways.


Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in user experience research, design research, or equivalent (i.e. hands on) so that you have successes and failures to draw upon.
  • Proficient in qualitative or mixed methods to design, analyze, and present the research (e.g. survey design and responds effects).
  • A Master’s degree in HCI, cognitive or experimental psychology, sociology, business planning OR a BA/BS in one of the above fields with significant academic or industry experience.
  • Well established portfolio that demonstrates solid research techniques and ability to make a meaningful impact.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and strong attention to detail.
  • A passion for articulating how you understand user needs, and ability to influence the product team with insights and data.
