Senior UX/UI Designer Zaikio

Did you know that the printing industry is one of the biggest industries on the planet? Nevertheless, it faces a lot of challenges when it comes to collaboration and process digitisation. We are Zaikio and we're currently building a sophisticated software platform for this industry to solve the problem. Our vision is to create a place where all print related processes world-wide run on a centralised industry platform. From designers and publishers to printers and machines to trucks and logistics – it's truly holistic.
We design and build the foundation services for this platform, as well as documentation and developer resources. Our responsibilities include process design, product design, UI/UX, implementation and operations as well as marketing and general strategy.
All of this is backed by Heidelberg Druckmaschinen AG, the biggest print equipment manufacturer in the world, with more than 100 years of history. Heidelberg has acquired us (called Crispy Mountain back then), in order to combine the excitement of a young and agile team with the knowledge and tradition of one of the oldest brands in print. Together we will tackle the incredibly exciting mission ahead.
What will you be doing?
As a Senior UX/UI Designer, you'll be an equal part of a team consisting out of four design specialists, working side-by-side with management, development and marketing towards a shared goal. With your experience in crafting digital products you can advice the whole company on how to digitally empower our B2B2C customers. That’s why you will take the lead on a user-centered design process, participating in conceptualization and product development from the very beginning of a project.
You perform best in a team where collaboration, feedback and advice is the standard approach to excelling in design. You are able to single handedly lead a design decision process and execute all necessary steps for a production ready interface. You understand the different needs of users, products and business and you use them in your design decisions while being able to communicate possible indications clearly. The journey of your exploration is always visible to all stakeholders – you make sure of it, since we're a 100% remote team we know that this can be a challenge. As a Senior UX/UI Designer you’re not just an expert in design but also a strategic thinker that brings inspiration and ideas into the team.
An active exchange with the team is super important to us! You enjoy sharing your knowledge and advising other designers. Through your constructive feedback, you enable the design team to reach its full potential and help us to constantly improve our design process. Not just that – you are interested in actively shaping the design culture within Zaikio together with us.
What you bring to the table:At Zaikio, we value design. It's not just about making things look nice. We believe design helps us shape the product vision and our strategy to create a holistic, joyful product experience – with added value for our customers and partners.
- You are confident to take charge of forming a product design vision for Zaikio, with our product vision and the company's goals in mind
- You're not afraid to talk to our customers of whom we have a long standing relationship with
- You are a self-organized team player, willing to share your knowledge with others to improve the design process & culture and to have fun at work
- In doing so, we expect you to demonstrate your years of experience creating digital products: You can argue your solutions coherently, proving to us why this is the right way to go, while keeping the context and stage of product development in mind
- You have project management skills and a very good understanding of technical implementation
- Your workflows are based on your repertoire of UX-methods and common practices. Your design follows a strategy. In doing so, your gut feeling is valid, but definitely not your only basis for decision making.
- You're able to translate your ideas into production ready deliverables that will be shared with others. Post-Its are a great choice of getting started but your focused work will happen in design tools like Sketch, Figma or the Adobe Creative Cloud.
What we have to offer
✌️ Bullshit-free zone
Our challenge is a big one: we are tasked with building a platform that will change the face of an entire industry. Forever. We don't solve Silicon Valley-style self-made, first-world problems – we want to fix actual software problems in the printing industry, freeing the people working there from stupid, repetitive, cognitive assembly line work and allow them to rediscover their creativity.
???? Above-average salary
We pay above-average salaries that are linked to your experience and responsibility and grow with you. All based on a simple and fair level-based salary model.
We’re trying hard to provide you with a healthy and family friendly environment. Results matter, not office hours. That’s why we encourage remote work and quality time that you can spend with your loved ones.
???????? Freedom and Opportunities
You will enjoy a great deal of freedom in your work (which can also be a burden). Not gonna lie, we are a small team at this point, which will grow over time (again not explosively, but sustainably), so at first your job will be hands-on, while in the future it can shift more towards project lead and management (if this is your desire). Either way, your work will have an impact on our success!
Apply below and tell us a bit about yourself and the work you’ve done so far. We also expect you to get familiar with our philosophy and tell us how you can enrich our team.
You don't have to hold a design school degree – most of us are also strong self-taughts. As long as you shine with your experience, knowledge and personality, you've won us over.
Please send us your Portfolio, so that we can have a sneak peak how you present and argue your design process, ideas and solutions.
Consider give us some time to review your application, please. We’ll definitely come back to you as soon as possible. After our initial review, we might conduct a short phone interview to get to know you better. Following that, a personal meeting or online conference will be the next step, where you can introduce yourself to the team and share expectations.
We at Zaikio highly value equality and diversity, thus strongly encourage women and underrepresented minorities to apply for this position. The only constraint at this moment is, that we we need to focus on applicants that already live and work in Germany.
Now it’s your turn! We look forward hearing from you!
